NEW YORK (September 17, 2024) – The Touchstones of Leadership: Key Principles for Business Leaders by Joseph Carleone is published by Forbes Books, the exclusive business publication that publishes Forbes. Carleone’s new work is available today on Amazon.
To The Touchstones of LeadershipJoseph Carleone offers 45 specific principles to help business leaders succeed in the face of adversity.
Organized into a comprehensive four-part model, the principles in Carleone’s book create a strategic compass that guides organizations from operational management to strategic coordination. The first part focuses on self-control, emphasizing the importance of focusing on what one can control and using natural strengths to make big decisions. The second emphasizes human, or “soft,” skills that highlight the importance of strong relationships and effective communication. The third emphasizes the role of business intelligence while providing tools for intelligent decision-making and thoughtful talent management. The final section addresses the strategic vision that leaders must apply to develop and maintain a winning vision.
Carleone’s opinions are backed by extensive research and his 45 years of experience building trust, seeking and exploiting opportunities, and making decisions based on values.
“Business leadership is characterized by certainty and not foresight,” Carleone confirmed. “That is not to suggest that good business leadership is irresponsible and neglects social responsibility. Business leadership must be responsible and accountable to the entire group of stakeholders: owners, customers, employees, vendors, and members of the community in which the business operates. Thus, business leadership outcomes must be measured in order to improve the economic value of these five stakeholder groups. Good business leaders must be ‘True Responsible Activists’.”
So, what exactly is a true Responsible Professional? As Carleone explains, to be responsibility it includes adhering to ethical and legal standards, treating everyone fairly and with respect, respecting the environment, maintaining integrity and openness in sales and marketing, ensuring product safety, and providing with safe working conditions. Being a a true expert acknowledges that the world is not perfect and accepts things outside of their control as they are, they use these truths to develop a business strategy that benefits all involved in the business.
